LOCATION CHANGE: Annual Picnic Now at Miwok Park
August 18, 2026
Picnic Location Change: Due to an active bee hive at Hoog Park that cannot be safely removed before our picnic, the City of Novato has generously offered us Miwok Park as an alternative location.
The good news is that Miwok Park is an outstanding picnic venue, with shaded tables, a large group picnic area, open grassy space, and an adjacent playground for children. Everything else about the picnic remains the same—only the location has changed.
If you haven’t already, please RSVP by Friday, August 28 by clicking here so we can plan for food.
Volunteers are still needed! If you can help with setup (11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.), the food table, or children’s games, please contact Mary Rawles at maryrawls1@gmail.com.
The event is free, although donations to help offset picnic expenses are always appreciated.

After the wonderful turnout at our June & July get-togethers, we’re looking forward to another evening of good conversation and new connections. Bring a chair, your favorite beverage, and an optional appetizer to share.

Mark your calendar for Sunday, August 30, from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m. and join your neighbors at Miwok Park, located at 2200 Novato Blvd., for the First Annual Marin Country Club Neighborhood Association Community Picnic!
Whether you’ve lived in the neighborhood for decades or just moved in, this is a great opportunity to meet neighbors, reconnect with friends, and enjoy a relaxed afternoon together.
We’ll provide the hamburgers, hot dogs, and all the fixings. Just bring your favorite beverage, a chair or blanket, and a dish to share based on your last name:
- A–F: Appetizer
- G–Q: Side Dish or Salad
- R–Z: Dessert
We’ll also have lawn games and activities for all ages, making this a fun afternoon for the entire family.
This event is open to everyone in the Marin Country Club neighborhood. Whether you’re a long-time resident, new to the neighborhood, a member of the Association, or simply curious to learn more, we hope you’ll join us.
One of the best parts of living in the Marin Country Club neighborhood is the people who call it home. We hope this picnic becomes an annual tradition that brings our community together for years to come.

Buck Gulch Trails Project City Council Meeting - 7/26 - Four Questions

An MCCNA team has been working hard over the last two weeks to formally respond to the Marin County Open Space District’s Buck Gulch Falls Project, as have the Novato staff. Our findings have revealed major deficiencies in both the analysis and documentation of this project’s potential impacts on our neighborhood.
Please review these Four Questions that concern all of us and should be raised at the City Council meeting on Tuesday, July 28, starting at 6:00 p.m. This meeting will consider the City’s response to the project, and either your attendance or your email to the Council can make a difference. Please attend the meeting and, if possible, speak during the public comment period. Speakers are limited to two minutes, and these questions provide a helpful guide. The meeting will be held at 922 Machin Avenue.

The official California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review document for the proposed Buck Gulch Trail project is now available for public download. As a significant development in our immediate area, this trail project has important implications for our surrounding open spaces, local wildlife habitats, drainage, and neighborhood access. Residents are encouraged to review the report to understand the proposed trail alignment, construction mitigation plans, and how the long-term management of the trail may impact our community’s natural environment and safety.
The formal public review and comment period is currently open and will run until Friday, July 24th. This is a critical window for homeowners and residents to voice opinions, raise specific environmental or safety considerations, and submit feedback that will become part of the official public record. You can download the complete CEQA review document directly through the link below. Please ensure all formal comments are submitted to the lead agency before the July 24th deadline to ensure our neighborhood’s perspectives are fully evaluated in the final planning stages.

MCCNA Kick-Off Meeting Launch Draws Strong Community Support

More than 100 residents gathered at Good Shepherd Lutheran School for the inaugural meeting of the Marin Country Club Neighborhood Association, marking an exciting step toward building stronger neighborhood connections and community engagement. Residents heard from founders and board members about how years of neighborhood advocacy and a desire for stronger community connections inspired the creation of the association, as well as its mission to bring neighbors together, improve communication, and address shared concerns.
The evening also highlighted priorities including emergency preparedness, fire prevention, traffic concerns, community communications, and future social activities—with many residents signing up to participate and bringing total membership to 67.
The evening featured presentations from neighborhood organizers, community leaders, and special guests Fire Chief Dan Peters and Fire Marshal Lynne Osgood, who shared practical guidance on wildfire prevention, defensible space, and community safety initiatives. With committees forming and activities already being planned, the MCCNA is building momentum as a new voice for neighborhood connection and collaboration—and all residents are invited to be part of it.

We’re excited to announce the guest speakers for our Kick-Off Meeting. Join Fire Chief Dan Peters and Fire Marshal Lynne Osgood for an update on fire safety and prevention in our community.
The evening begins with socializing at 6:30 p.m., followed by the meeting at 7:00 p.m., where we’ll also share how the association was formed and the benefits and resources available to members.
